The first question you might be asking is, “Is Baguio near Sagada?” The answer is yes! Baguio and Sagada are both located in the Cordillera Region of the Philippines. However, they’re about 6 hours apart by bus since the roads are very windy. But don’t worry. The trip is worth it!

Best Time To Visit Sagada
The best time to visit Sagada is from December to May to avoid the rainy season. If you don’t like crowds, plan to visit on a weekday.
How to Get from Baguio to Sagada by Bus
There are a few different ways to get from Baguio to Sagada. You can take a van or a bus. We recommend taking the bus, as it is the most comfortable option and will get you there in about 6 hours.
To take the bus from Baguio to Sagada, you’ll need to go to the Dangwa Bus Terminal or to the Slaughterhouse in Brgy. Lower Magsaysay. Upon arrival in Baguio, ride a taxi going to the terminals listed below or use Google Maps and walk going to the terminals.
There are three bus companies that make the trip: Lizardo Trans, Rising Sun, and GL Trans.
Note: Bus schedules are subject to change without prior notice, so always confirm as soon as you arrive.
Lizardo Trans
Bus Terminal: Slaughterhouse in Brgy. Lower Magsaysay
Schedules: 2:30 AM
Fare: 220 pesos
GL Trans
Bus Terminal: Dangwa Terminal at the back of Center Mall
Schedules: (Note: You’ll find that some of these schedules are bound to Besao. You can ride these buses. They’ll stop over at Sagada.)
- 5:30 AM – Besao
- 8:30 AM – Besao
- 10:30 AM – Sagada
- 1:00 PM – Besao
Fare: 220 pesos
Rising Sun (Bound for Bontoc)
The Rising Sun is bound for Bontoc. You can ride this bus and alight at Bontoc. From there, ride a jeep to Sagada.
Bus Terminal: Slaughterhouse in Brgy. Lower Magsaysay
Schedules:
- 5:00 AM to 4:00 PM (departs hourly)
Fare: 235 pesos
Rising Sun should be your last option when going to Sagada. Their buses are bound for Bontoc. To get to Sagada, you’ll have to ride a jeep bound for Sagada from Bontoc.
The last jeep going to Sagada leaves Bontoc at 2:00 PM. If you miss the last jeep, you’ll have to stay overnight in Bontoc. We recommend taking the earliest bus so that you have plenty of time to get to Sagada.

How to Get from Baguio to Sagada by Car
If you’re feeling adventurous, you can also rent a car and drive from Baguio to Sagada. The drive will take about 5 to 6 hours, but it’s a great way to see the scenery.
Just be sure to take plenty of breaks, as the roads can be very winding. Avoid driving on a rainy day or at night especially if you’re not used to zigzag roads and sharp curves.
How to Get from Sagada to Baguio by Bus
When going back to Baguio, ride a bus near the market. There’s no clear terminal for buses, so ask around where the buses park before they leave for Baguio. You might need to wait for a while before a bus comes, so be ready to wait in line, especially on the weekends.
Travel Tips
- Always buy your tickets in advance, especially during peak season. Buses and vans to Sagada fill up quickly!
- If you’re prone to motion sickness, take medication before your trip. The roads can be very winding.
- Wear comfortable clothes and shoes. You’ll be sitting for a long time on the bus or in the van.
- Pack light! You don’t want to be lugging around a heavy bag while you’re exploring Sagada.
- Bring a jacket or sweater. It can get cold at night, even during the summer.
- Have cash handy. There are only a few ATMs in Sagada, and most places only accept cash.
- Be prepared for an adventure!
